Nahant Tennis Club

The Nahant Tennis club is about community, accessibility and the love of the sport. It is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and your membership fees go directly back into maintaining the courts and facilities. Our fees are kept low to keep the sport accessible and make everyone feel welcome!

History

The Nahant Courts are located on the grounds of the Nahant Country Club, the historic 1800's homestead of the Tudor Family. Nahant was the site of the first game of tennis played in America in 1874.

Junior Tennis Program

Membership not required. The Nahant Junior Tennis Program is for children ages 5-15 of all skill levels. Kids will develop a well-rounded tennis foundation through on-court agility, stroke progression, and drills aimed at promoting learning and fun in a safe environment.

The Summer Program runs June - August

Andrea Gogolos

President, Nahant Tennis Inc.

Andrea has been passionate about Tennis ever since her 10th birthday, when she was gifted a wooden tennis racket and enrolled in a town recreation summer program. Andrea played High School tennis at Marian High, Framingham, MA competing in the Catholic School league. A former ranked NELTA Junior player, Andrea went on to play for the Boston University, Terriers Tennis Team. While in college, she worked as a volunteer for then WTA Virginia Slims and Avon Tournaments hosted at BU’s arena and had the opportunity to meet many top players. During the summer seasons Andrea worked for the original Boston Lobsters Team Tennis.  Moving to Nahant, 8 years ago, joining Nahant Tennis, Inc. in 2022, Andrea was a guest on Bravo’s Below Deck Season 10 with Primary Guest Gigi Fernandez, Olympian Gold,  Hall of Fame, 17 times Grand Slam Doubles Champ!  Andrea has met many members, enjoys Tennis, Platform and Pickleball and prides herself on fun, competition with a good mix of social play with all levels.

Away from the courts Andrea is an Executive at a global Software firm. Andrea has served on the Board of Nahant Tennis, Inc for the past 4 years and is very excited to carry on the traditions of the club. Please feel free to engage with Andrea when at the courts!

Dimitri Vlassov

Tennis Pro / Director of Tennis

Dimitri Vlassov has been a Tennis Coach at the Nahant Country Club since 2014. Dimitri began his coaching career at the NTC first serving as an assistant coach for the Kids' Summer Tennis program before becoming the Head Coach of the program in 2018. Dimitri spent two years playing Division Two tennis at Stonehill College before transferring to the UMass Amherst to graduate with a degree in Sports Management in 2019. Dimitri is currently a full-time USTA tennis pro based out of Sportsmen's Tennis & Enrichment Center in Dorchester, MA where he works with kids and adults of all playing levels. Sportsmen’s Tennis Center is recognized nationally by the USTA junior development. Dimitri is US PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) Certified Level 1 & Level 2 along with being CPR/AED certified for kids and adults. As the newly appointed (2023) Director of Tennis at the Nahant Country Club, Dimitri is excited to ensure that all members, prospective members, new and experienced players receive quality tennis instruction, have the option to participate in tennis tournaments hosted at the Country Club, and meet other members who share the same passion for the sport.

Sally Zagnoli

Head Coach NTC Summer Tennis Program

Sally Zagnoli played competitive team tennis for various tennis clubs in the North Shore area for over 20 years. In 2000 Sally started and ran the tennis program for the Georgetown park and rec department with over 127 students per year and earning USTA award for “Best Park and Recreation Program” of the year. In 2008 Sally ran the adult and youth tennis programs at the Sugarloaf, ME Outdoor Adventure Camp. Sally returned to Nahant and runs the NTC Youth Summer Tennis Program. Sally prides herself in creating a fun, positive environment for her students of all ages, to develop good social skills, self-confidence, hand eye coordination and basic skills to help them succeed in this lifelong sport. Sally holds many certifications including US PTR, American Family Fitness Association, Parkinson Fitness from The Brian Grant Foundation, Active Aging Instructor Certification, Tennis for Tots/Munchkins
